‘ARMED’ FOR BATTLE ON LONG ISLAND

 ARM WRESTLING FEATURED AT BELMONT FAIR MAY 2, 2004

ELMONT, LI. NY. Sunday, May 2, 2004.  Spectators are invited to watch the muscles ripple as The Belmont Stakes Fair and New York Arm Wrestling Association have joined forces to present the 24^th Annual Long Island ‘OPEN’ Arm Wrestling Championships to be held on the MAIN STAGE at the Belmont Stakes Fair - Registration and Weigh-in begins at 2:30 PM and Start Time is 4 PM. There are ten PRO-AM weight classes for men including two left hand classes, a Masters 45+ years old and over class, a Seniors 60+ years old class and three weight classes for women. Entry fee is $15 for NYAWA members and $20 for nonmembers. Additional classes are $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

The Belmont Fair is located at Belmont Park that is just east of Cross-Island Parkway on the Nassau/Queens Border in Elmont, Long Island, NY – Enter Belmont Race Track - Gate #5 - Parking is $4.  General Admission is $7 for adults and children. For directions by Car, Bus or Train go the

This is a pro-am ‘open’ event where anyone can compete, regardless of age, sex, weight, dexterity or experience. This event will feature the Long Island Arm Wrestling Team plus, teams with top talent from all five Boroughs, upstate New York and beyond.

Custom Awards and certificates will be given for first, second and third place in each weight class and a male and female MVP will be crowned. There are no residency requirements and everyone is invited to compete or sit back and watch the exciting strong-arm competition.

The NYAWA is celebrating its 27^th Year Anniversary and has lined up a full schedule of events for adults, teens and children of all ages.
