January 2005

Welcome to 2005.  Everything seems to be looking better for armwrestling in the new year.  Bigger and better tournaments, the Unification is going ahead as planned.  Hopefully after this year we will only have one National and One World to train for.  There is a lot of work being done behind the scenes to strengthen the North American Federation and also to make new contacts in our quest for the Olympics.

Hopefully everyone is aware that the Gladiator Tournaments never happened.  They were finally cancelled.  There was just too much that Nick Cara the promoter couldn’t explain.  When they couldn’t answer my questions or show me proof in writing I did some checking and found that Fox 5 and ESPN has no knowledge about this, I also called Foxwood Casino in CT where I was told they would hold an event in February and they knew nothing about this.  That is when I resigned from the event as Regional Director and Head of Referees.  I was hoping that this was for real as a lot of pullers were.

Results

The 2nd Annual PA Winter Blast was held at Brady’s Irish Pub in Bensalem, PA on January 22.  This turned out to be a real winter blast with 14 inches of snow.  Thanks to everyone that braved the storm to come and pull.  There were 28 entries from PA, NJ and CT.
