FIRST MASTESE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD

The Malta Arm Wrestling Association held its very first national championships at the Corinthia Jerma Palace Hotel in the seaside town of Marsaskala.

  Since the association is still in its infancy only three combined weight categories for right hand men and an open one were held but never the less quite good crowd gathered at this premier hotel in the south of Malta. Those present had the occasion to watch a number of interesting and exciting bouts. Contestants represented their towns.

  Gordon Falzon of St. Paul’s Bay became the first Maltese national champion when winning the Up to 70kg. The
 Under 86kg was clinched by Clifton Spagnol of Fgura while the Plus 86kg championship went to Jason Farrugia of Paula. Jason Farrugia considered as the current best arm wrestler in Malta as was expected also won the Open.
